Booking
How much does a private chef cost in Northern Ireland?
It depends on the menu, the number of guests and how you'd like it served. Every Ten Tables quote is priced per head and itemised, so you can see exactly what's included. Send a message with your date and numbers and I'll put a quote together for you.
How do I book?
Send a message on Facebook Messenger with your date, the area, guest numbers and the occasion. I'll reply personally with a few questions and a draft menu. Once you're happy, a deposit secures your date.
How far ahead should I book?
A few weeks' notice is ideal for dinners. December and summer Saturdays fill up first, so book those as early as you can. Couples usually get in touch six months to a year before a wedding. Short-notice dates do come up, so it's always worth asking.
How do deposits and cancellations work?
A deposit secures your date and the balance is due shortly before the event. The exact amounts and the cancellation terms are set out clearly in your quote before you commit to anything.
Which areas do you cover?
Ten Tables cooks across Northern Ireland, at homes, holiday lets, venues and offices. If you're further afield, get in touch anyway and I'll let you know what's possible.
Food & allergies
Can you cater for allergies and dietary needs?
Yes. Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and other needs are planned in from the start, not added as an afterthought. Tell me about every guest when you get in touch and I'll confirm in writing how each dish is handled.
Where do your ingredients come from?
As close to home as possible. Menus are built around Northern Irish produce and change with the seasons, so what's on your plate depends on what's at its best that month.
Can we have a tasting?
Yes. Wedding couples taste their menu before the day, and tastings can be arranged for other larger events too. Ask about it when you get in touch.
On the day
What's included?
Planning the menu with you, buying every ingredient, cooking in your kitchen, plating, serving at the table and clearing down afterwards. You set the table and enjoy your guests. If you're short of plates or glasses, I can arrange hire.
Do you bring your own equipment?
I bring knives, specialist kit and everything needed to serve. I use your oven, hob and some fridge space, and I'll ask about your kitchen beforehand so there are no surprises on the night.
Can you provide drinks?
I don't sell alcohol, but I'm happy to suggest wines to suit your menu and to serve drinks you provide.
How many guests can you cook for?
Anything from a dinner for two to a small wedding. For bigger numbers I bring in trusted extra hands so the food and service stay at the same standard. Tell me your numbers early and I'll plan the evening around them.
Can you cook in a holiday let or Airbnb?
Yes, as long as there's a working oven and hob. Send a couple of photos of the kitchen with your message and I'll check it will work.
Weddings & business
Do you cater weddings?
Yes, small and intimate ones are what Ten Tables does best: canapés, the wedding breakfast and evening food, at venues, marquees and family homes across Northern Ireland.
Do you cater business lunches?
Yes. Working lunches, board meetings, client dinners and team celebrations. Food arrives labelled for allergens, and you'll get a clear invoice afterwards.
Should I tip a private chef?
Tipping is never expected. The nicest thanks is a review on Facebook.
